09 Apr Sonic Imagery Labs
Sonic Imagery Labs is an American company that designs and manufactures high-end audio electronic equipment. They pay careful attention to detail and that can be seen in their chosen precision components, in their compact and refined designs and in their complet and comprehensive datasheets and user manuals.
Sonic Imagery Labs manufactures, among other components, very popular low-noise Class-A operational amplifiers that, thanks to their packages, are fully compatible with the single and dual operational amplifiers of most manufacturers. Because of this, they are used to upgrade electronic circuit, like buffers, in many preamplifiers and digital-to-analog converters.
Since 2017, atm-audio distributes the components of Sonic Imagery Labs for Spain and Portugal.

Figure 1. Sonic Imagery Labs 992Enh-Ticha
The 992Enh-Ticha is a high performance discrete op amp designed for professional audio applications where ultra low noise and low distortion are required.
The op-amp is built solely with SMT components to minimize the effect of induced noise. Among all its components, two elements stand out. On the one hand, it has two specifically matched precision differential transistors to minimize noise and distortion in the system. On the other hand, the circuit has independent constant current sources that guarantee a sink or source 150 mA against variations in input voltage and temperature.
Features:
- Ultra low Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.0003 THD+N @ 1 kHz
- Ultra low noise: 0.89 nV/rtHz typical
- High current output drive (150 mA into 75 ohms @ ±24 V supply)
- +26 dBu output levels (into 600 ohms @ ±24 V supply)
- Standard 8 pin DIP footprint
- Operates over ±7.5 V to ±24 V supply rails
- Lower output offset voltage than existing counterparts
- Lower input leakage current than existing counterparts
All models are individually tested to ensure compliance with specifications.

The 994Enh-Ticha is another high performance operational amplifier designed for professional applications and high fidelity audio. Like the 992Enh-Ticha, its design is also based on SMD components that reduce induced noise and maintain the signal integrity. The difference is that this product is a dual operational amplifier.
The technology used is very similar to that of the 992Enh-Ticha model: two specifically matched precision differential transistors to minimize noise and distortion and independent constant current sources that guarantee a stable output against variations in input voltage and temperature. Its main characteristics are its excellence noise performance, its excellence high speed specifications and its immeasurably low distortion output and true precision parameters.
Features:
- Ultra low Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.0003 THD+N @ 1 kHz
- Ultra low noise: 0.89 nV/rtHz typical

- Standard 8 pin DIP footprint
- Operates over ±7.5 V to ±24 V supply rails

Finally, the 990Enh-Ticha is an operational amplifier designed to improve the technical specifications of vintage or retro-clone gears such as Jensen JE990, Automated Processes Inc. API-2520, John Hardy Co. 990A-990C, FiveFish Studios DOA series, Seventh Circle Audio SC10, SC25, SC99 or Avedis Audio 1122 op-amp gain block.
This model also includes two specifically matched precision differential transistors to minimize noise and distortion and independent constant current sources that guarantee a stable output against variations in input voltage and temperature. Its characteristics make it an ideal product to use in applications where the best possible distortion performance is demanded, where the best possible noise performance is required or where a load requires more drive current or higher voltages than a monolithic IC can sustain between power supply rails.
Features:
- Ultra low Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.00045 THD+N @ 1 kHz
- Ultra low noise: 890 pV/rtHz typical
- High current output drive (250 mA into 75 ohms)
- +26 dBu output levels (into 600 ohms)
- Standard gain block footprint
- Operates over ±10 V to ±24 V supply rails
- Lower output offset voltage than existing counterparts
- Lower input leakage current than existing counterparts
All models are individually tested to ensure compliance with specifications.
