Custom Home Cinema (II)

 

As we know, home theaters are audiovisual systems that seek to reproduce the experience of a movie theater using home audio and video equipment. Getting a good audiovisual system where everything fits is very complicated. There are many elements that you have to connect together to achieve the desired requirements: AV receivers, power amplifiers, speakers, room acoustics, seating arrangements… It is very difficult, if not impossible, to find a set on the market. preconfigured that fully adapts to our needs, especially if we are very demanding with audio quality.

For all of these reasons, it’s common for audiophiles to turn to custom kits with bespoke equipment designed to blend together for the perfect custom home theater.

Today I am going to show you another project related to home cinema. On this occasion, the client requested a system (front trio) for his home cinema with very high demands in terms of clarity and detail in the sound, but with a normal sound pressure level, since it was a dining room of about 30 square meters.

In accordance with the client’s instructions, the system of self-powered loudspeakers will be made up of the following elements:

a) Main monitor for left and right channels (L/R) -2 units –
It is a three-way bass reflex system. It is equipped with a 1.1” beryllium dome tweeter, a 3” soft dome midrange driver and a 10” doped paper woofer. The enclosure will be manufactured using birch plywood in a natural finish. The internal wiring will be made of silver-plated copper and PTFE (tef on) insulation.

b) Three-way enclosure for the central channel (C), in horizontal format -1 unit-
It is a three and a half way system, in a sealed enclosure. It is equipped with a 1.1” beryllium dome tweeter, a 3” soft dome midrange driver and four 8” doped paper woofers. The enclosure will be made of birch plywood with a natural finish. The internal wiring will be made of silver-plated copper and PTFE (Teflon) insulation.

c) Plate amplifier for processing and amplification -3 units –
The electronics associated with each element will be placed at the rear of each enclosure (plate amplifier format). This will include the digital processor, with its power supply, amplification modules, XLR input connector, switch with EMI filter and self-ignition system. The system will be interconnected with each other and with the main sound source through the appropriate wiring, both for signal and power supply. It will be executed through Furutech brand XLR connectors (signal) and Shuko and IEC connectors (power).
